How it Works
Send us your unused crank and we will clean it up, install a brand new PRECISION 3 Powermeter and resell it so someone else can experience the benefits of training with power.
In return, you will receive up to $45! Alternatively, you have the option to donate the money to one of our selected charitable organizations who are dedicated to helping underprivileged youth in local communities through cycling initiatives.
Make a difference and reCYCLE with us!
FAQs
-
-
What happens after I submit my application?
-
Our team will review your application to confirm the crank model, and the condition of the crank, and then provide you with a prepaid shipping label and further instructions on how to send your crank to 4iiii.
-
-
-
What do you do with the used cranks?
-
We will clean it up, put it through rigorous testing to make sure that it is structurally sound, and install a 4iiii power meter on it to sell as a refurbished power meter. All of our refurbished (clearance) power meters are installed on structurally intact cranks (they might have some cosmetic blemishes from normal riding wear and tear) and are fully tested to ensure they meet our high +/- 1% accuracy tolerances.

We haven’t yet set up the logistics to economically and sustainably receive cranks from outside North America, so subscribe to our newsletter for updates as we expand the crank buyback program to more areas.

How do I receive my rebate?
-
You will receive an email notifying you that you have a PayPal payment in the amount of your rebate. If you have a PayPal account, log in to your account and click Activity at the top of the page to view the details of your payment. If you don’t have a PayPal account, you can quickly sign up for one and confirm your address to receive the payment.
Rebates will be processed within 10-20 business days after a crank has been received by 4iiii.

-
What types of cranks are you accepting?
-
We’re accepting non-drive side (left-side) cranks that are in good, working condition and may have minor scratches and scuffs. There is a complete list of crank models we’re accepting in the dropdown feature in Step 1 of the submission process.

-
Why don’t I see my crank on the crank eligibility list?
-
If the crank you have is not one that is listed in the program, we unfortunately cannot use it to install a power meter on. The most common reason why a crank might not be eligible is if it has a concave channel on the inside of the crank arm. Installation involves more than just placement of the unit. Crank arms need to be tested for a number of variables to determine if it meets our engineering requirements. Hence we do not install on crank arms not on the approved list.

-
What is required to be sent with the crank?
-
We require the crank along with the Shimano pinch bolts and safety plate to be included in order to qualify for the rebate. The safety plate is the black plastic piece that’s designed to ensure the pinch bolts are tightened properly.
